Be a grown safe lives
I participated in saving life!
But how? Am i brave enough to defeat my own country in a war?
Hmm..
Apparently i decided to do it in another way, much safer way,
By DONATING MY BLOOD
In the event of the reunion day from the alumni of Saint Ursula High School from year 1990, they made this Blood Donation event :)
I personally think that, it was a really brilliant yet unique idea plus it is done for a good cause too...
First stage of this reunion started as they gathered us in the hall in our school, then they explained about they reunion celebration, they also explain the main concern in this ceremony is the blood donation.
P.s. From hearing their explanation, as they said that donating your blood is a good work plus it is good for ourselves too, as we would be able to renew our blood cells, which will make us healthier. My bio teacher, who apparently has been participated in blood donation for about 64 times, she said that it is a good thing to do plus it benefited our own body too.
So then I think, why not?
On the blood donation day...
One of the reason i want to join this blood donation is also because i wanted to know and make sure what is my real blood type, cause it was kind of ambiguous between B or AB when i did my own test at the lab for bio Experiment.
First, I was scared as i recall my friend, Irene told me during recess that the injection diameter will be huge! The other thing that made me nervous was that i haven't eaten proper breakfast that morning.
The procedure lasts for about one and a half hours.
1. We have to fill the application form about our basic information such as name, phone number, address, allergies, etc.
2. We wait up in a line to be checked. They checked our blood type, hemoglobin, and our blood tension. Then they will determine werher you will be able to donate or not. You must not be in your period!
3. If we are able to donate they will give us this little coupon that said "CONGRATULATION! You are able to donate,...." (Then we can trade the coupon with goodie bag full of snacks) and if you are not able to donate on that day, they will still give you a coupon but it will say "CHEER UP! there will still be next time,..." (And even you can not donate your blood on that day, they will still give you goodie bag with snacks)
4. The subsequent step is to wait until they call your name to start your donation. While waiting for the call, i had a chat with my friends. Long story short, although it felt good to just have a chat, but i was feeling that something is not right, as I guessed i have been waiting for too long, then my other friend came and asked me "Haven't you donated yet?" And I said "No, it started to feel like forever." Then she realized something weird "Didn't you gave the coupon, so they can add you up to the line?" OH,NO! it was like I didn't even put my name on the list from the start! Then, i rushed to the. Crew and get me on the line.
5. The next thing I now was that i saw some of my friends who were just donated their blood, faint or semi faint. Of course I was nervous when I saw that coming. But somehow I manage to keep my valiant side, and say to myself to remain calm. The moment finally came, i was called to do the donation. To be honest, I wouldn't say that it didn't hurt, but I do think that it is bearable and it is definetely worth the pain.
6. Try to relax your self. Don't do too much activities or anything aggressive. So, I decided to eat popmie with my friend from the goodie bag that I received.
P.S. Do not do any too-much-significant-gesture such as practicing your dance because it will affect you in some unpleasant way!
I got a terrible headache because of doing the dance practice about an hour after the blood donation, then i ended up sleeping till evening and wasn't able to come to my friend's b'day dinner :(
But overall, I do recommend to donate your blood, because it is a good thing both for others and our own self!
xoxo, L+/-FE
