Why Do I Dance? Part 1

Hi guys! I’m back! In this post I would like to tell you about something that I enjoy, which is dancing. I’m not a pro though, I can’t even really make a choreography once I hear the music playing, also I learn slowly, indeed, I’m not a pro dancer, but above all that, more importantly there is something about it that make me excited and thrilled at the same time, especially when I learn something new.
Firstly, I could not remember the first time I started dancing, but I am pretty sure it was when I was a toddler hehe. ( or even a baby ), okay! Let’s move to the real stuff. When I was in the third grade, my sister(Vanessa)’s friend invited my sister to her Ballet Graduation Ceremony, it is basically a graduation for the ballerina after they graduated from a level, they also perform dances there. Because she didn’t want to go by herself so she asked my mother and me to come with her (later I realized that she wanted to tell my mom that she wanted join the ballet class) So, We went to the graduation and watched the ballerinas danced, my first thought was Woah, cool! But they were doing a lot of spinning (pirruetes) and they made me feel dizzy. So when my mom asked me how was the performance and what about joining the ballet course? then I told her I felt dizzy and nope, I do not want to take ballet! Oh, for some reason that I already forgot (cos I have a memory like a goldfish) my sister did not take ballet course either, but I think she was already in the jazz class, or after attending the graduation then she joined the jazz class (LOL I am confused right now)
As Time goes by, I didn’t precisely remember what has gotten into me that made me want to take the ballet class. On the late March when I was in grade 5, I remembered My Sister and I were laying on our bed and we found some ballet page on facebook and we were actually interested so Vanessa sent a direct message to them to ask if we can do trial. Days after, we received a reply, by the way  forgot what the reply was but I am pretty sure they told us to come to MDA GUNUNG SAHARI at 4 pm on Wednesday. Confused me asked my sister like what are we suppose to do in the trial? What if I messed it? And she told me that we just have to follow the teacher’s instructions, but deep down I was still worried. So, we went there, I remembered Mas Feri opened the door for us and asked may I help you? And my sister said she wanted to see Ms. Widyana and he was like “Ooh, Ms. Nana ?” back then we did not know Ms. Widyana nickname is Ms, nana, but fortunately we said yes, Ms, Nana. Then, He ask us to follow him upstairs, and we did, then we entered the class.
I remembered seeing girls in colorful leotards and ballet shoes their hair were tied up in a ponytail. When we entered the room, the class has already begin, and we went to the back of the room and try to copy the teacher’s move, and I remember I really sucked that day, as I have zero knowledge about ballet, literally I do not even know what point is. ( by the way point is a position when you point your legs …, and also a very basic yet mostly used in every syllabus) I remembered Ms, Nana greeted us nicely and she was really kind through the whole trial (until now she is still kind and caring) and then after the trial we decided to join the ballet class.
I was happy to get my first ever canvas ballet shoes, leotard, and stockings, and I started taking ballet class ever since. We joined the level-3 Beijing and we wore black leotards. I was amazed and excited every Wednesday and Saturday as our Ballet classes are on those days.
Funny story! The day after I attended my-very-first-real-Ballet-class, I was sick for a whole day like I got a fever and felt super tired because apparently I just got a stretching class. And until now “stretching class” still worries me, and also my other friends it’s like every time my teacher said “Ok, now it’s stretching class” we would still do “whaaaaaaaat?” in a horrified tone. But I personally find stretching class very useful as we are (forced) doing movements that will improve our flexibility, but the aftermath is always painful, but I guess it’s worth the pain.
I have struggled and learned a lot of stuff from Ballet. i am glad that I am in the right place and in a good hand right now, I’m grateful that Ms. Nana is my teacher as she is very caring and not too strict or grumpy but still delivering all the materials well while teaching us patiently.
That’s how I joined ballet :) Long story short, i am enjoying Ballet until now :)
